The Registered Nurse provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration.

Job Responsibilities

Come join our team! We are seeking a full time, Registered Nurse Fellow to join our team on the Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital/ Inova Schar Heart and Vascular. 3 x 12-hour shifts D/N Rotation.

Our patient population primarily consists of cardiovascular (CV) surgery patients including, but not limited to: coronary artery bypass (CABG), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitra-clips, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), and various thoracic surgery patients.

This experienced RN position is eligible for a competitive Sign On Bonus and Relocation Bonus for qualified candidates.

Key characteristics of our unit include:
Bi-weekly multidisciplinary education sessions, entirely private patient care rooms, competitive nurse to patient ratios with 3-4:1 for both day and night shift, highly trained resource and charge nurses proving support on every shift, highly involved management team consisting of clinical director, unit supervisors, and patient care navigator providing consistent training and education and ensuring robust support.

Requirements: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting
Minimum Education Requirement: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date. BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required and ACLS strongly preferred (must obtain within first 3 months)
